Terms of use

Contents of Terms of use Column

1.Digital Geological Archives of NGAC is open to the borrower and the geological data collection agencies(please refer to the user manual).2.You are also welcome to borrow in the National Geological Archives of China (please refer to the Guidelines for Service in the Archives).

Information Retrieval

The borrower can search the required information by entering key words on the home page. See Fig. 1.

Map Service

The borrower can enter the Database Service Column by clicking the Map Service (see Fig. 2) on the home page. Digital Geological Archives of NGAC provides two kinds of map service: the first is map view, by which the user can directly browse the released map service; and the second is OGC service interface, by which copy and pasting of the address information in the service metadata (see the following figure) to the user’s computer system or website system is allowed, so that the user can enjoy the released map service on his/her own system or website.

Data Service

Digital Geological Archives of NGAC has released a number of original geological data which the borrower can directly browse.

Click the Holdings on the home page for query and browse.

The data released in the Holdings column is non-classified and are allowed to be released on the Internet after evaluation and approval. Please go to the service hall of National Geological Archives of China for the classified data.

Topics

As for some special applications, Digital Geological Archives of NGAC has jointly developed with the third party a part of network application system enabling interaction with the users, who can use the released data more visually and conveniently through these systems.

Click the Topics on the home page (Fig. 5) or Topics (Fig. 6) on the home page to enter the corresponding column.

New Comings and Electronic Documents

Monthly or quarterly, Digital Geological Archives of NGAC releases the latest geological data or the newly completed digital textual and graphic files in the prior month or quarter.

Latest Database

All the latest spatial databases are given in the list shown in Fig.8.

Hotspots

The hotspots or classic datasets are displayed in a scrolling way as shown in Fig.9. Click to visit the corresponding map service.

Data Distribution

Below the Hotspots (Fig.10), the important areal geology achievement distribution is displayed in a scrolling way. Click to query the distribution with corresponding data.

National Geological Map Database

The user can click the Quick Entrance to Topics of National Geological Map Database below the column of [Topics] (Fig. 11) for quick access to the geological map data released with the scales of 1:5,000,000, 1:2,500,000, 1:1,000,000, 1:500,000, 1:250,000 and 1:200,000, which can be browsed in a page.

Emergency Service

In case of major geological event, for instance, the serious geological disaster or large area of drought, Digital Geological Archives of NGAC will release the corresponding service information and emergency data in the disaster and emergency column (right side in Fig. 10).

Technical Support

Click the Technical Support on the home page (Fig.12) for technical support. In this column, there released the construction progress information, technical document information, draft for comment of related standards, and released draft and other kinds of information of the Digital Geological Archives of NGAC, in order to provide technical support to the construction of digital geological archives by other collection agencies.

Background Data Support

Digital Geological Archives of NGAC provides the released standard data interface to the other geological data collection agencies for utilization. See the map service for borrowers for the use method.
In the future, the Digital Geological Archives of NGAC will provide more data interfaces to the other geological data collection agencies, including the geographic name database interface and the subject term database interface for standardization of cataloging.
